Bina Dawett lost everything when husband Ram Joshi died in the fire in Penn, Wolverhampton, in 2012.

Tragedy struck when a hairdryer was left lying on a bed while still plugged in and accidentally covered by a towel.

But she said now was the time to give herself a second chance and a new focus by launching the Beeskin and Beauty Lazer Clinic on Dudley Road in the city.

Ms Dawett, aged 52, said the last seven years had been a struggle, as she came to terms with losing her husband but that now was the time to get back to what she loves doing.

The mother-of-one said: “I did have a salon in Penn. My husband passed away and I lost interest in the salon.

“It knocked me back. I lost him in the fire and I was homeless as well as I had no home insurance or life insurance or savings. I have spent years working hard and this is where I have come to. I thought I am going to give myself a last chance and a big adventure. It would be my husband’s dream come true.

“It was a spur-of-the-moment thing. I was just passing on the road and saw the shop. I came in and I knew I wanted it to be here.”

There are four other members of staff at the new salon, which, as well as hairdressing, offers a range of beauty treatments. There are also plans to open a nail and beauty academy upstairs.

Ms Dawett said: “There will be a good, friendly atmosphere and we will be catering for everyone’s needs.”

The official opening of the new salons was attend by VIP guests, Councillors Harbans Bagra and Jasbinder Dehar.
