Car gets into deep trouble at Trescott Ford
A car got stuck in flood water as a notorious ford claimed its latest victim.
The Ford car's driver escaped after getting trapped at Trescott Ford, near Wolverhampton, on Sunday.
A number of vehicles have got stuck there over the years, despite warning signs that the water could be too deep to pass.
The driver of the car had to clamber out after getting stuck while following a diversion from roadworks on Ebstree Road, which took drivers back onto Bridgnorth Road and towards the ford on Furnace Grange Road.
According to the driver's father, the road was open when the car lost traction going up the hill and slid back into the water, which was around 1ft deep at the time.
The water levels rose rapidly and pushed the car into the walkway where it blocked the water flow and caused the waters to rise even further.
A measuring post showed the water was around 2ft deep after the incident when window cleaner Marko Tooth, who lives nearby, took the picture of the stranded car.
He said: "The lights were still on on the car.
"All the time it happens. I have seen about five this year."
The car was later recovered by a specialist vehicle.
