Inquest opens on cyclist killed in Wolverhampton lorry crash
An inquest opened on a cyclist who was killed after being hit by a lorry.
Paul Thompson, aged 50, of School Green, in Bilston, suffered serious injuries after he was struck by the vehicle in Cullwick Street, Wolverhampton, on November 26.
Mr Thompson was later confirmed dead at the scene, near East Park in Wolverhampton.
The cause of death was a serious head injury and spine injury in a road traffic collision, Black Country Coroners Court heard.
The inquest has now been adjourned until January 29 while a police investigation is underway.
A 29-year-old lorry driver, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, has been released pending further investigation.
In a tribute, his family said they were ‘truly devastated’ by the death of the brother and uncle of two.
