A Twitter user, who asked not to be identified, captured the scene after England qualified for their first World Cup semi-final in 28 years.

He tweeted:

It comes as emergency services elsewhere condemned damage caused by over-enthusiastic England supporters to an ambulance, and West Midlands Police revealed they had their busiest ever day for emergency calls.

In London an ambulance service vehicle was had to be taken out of service after fans danced on it, sparking outrage.

Also in London, a fan came a cropper after dancing on top of a double decker bus but then took a nasty fall when he jumped down on to a bus shelter.

West Midlands Police said it took the highest ever volume of 999 calls in its history on Saturday, with 3,276 calls for emergency police assistance in just 24 hours. The force blamed a mixture of the hot weather, World Cup and alcohol.

West Mercia Police also reported increased demand.
