Flash bang wallop, what a picture – although this brave group of models were doing their best NOT to flash as they posed for a charity calendar in various states of undress.

With balls and boxing gloves strategically placed to hide their modesty, a group of family and friends stripped off to raise funds for cancer research.

The photo shoot at Bilston Labour Club turned into a riot of fun but the session started off slowly with several initially reluctant to part with their pants.

Lisa Owen – or Miss August – said: “There was no trouble finding volunteers when people found out what it was for but when the time came, they weren’t so enthusiastic.

“Most of us had never stood semi-naked in front of each other and some found it more difficult than others – mainly the men – but we got there in the end. There was embarrassment but we had a lot of fun.”

Lisa, a 41-year-old debt recovery officer for Wolverhampton council, said her husband Nick helped to get the picture session under way.

“He came along from work in his lunch hour so didn’t have a lot of time. He just said ‘Come on lads, get your kit off’ and started kicking a football around.

“I think the men were more reluctant because they were completely stripping off while us girls only took our tops off.”

The game volunteers, who included three married couples, were persuaded to bare all by main organiser Andrea Deakin who was inspired to raise money for Cancer Research UK after her mother died of brain cancer.

Others in the friendship group have also lost loved ones to the disease.

Wolves fan Lisa, who posed with a club scarf covering her assets, revealed some of the models resorted to a spot of Dutch courage before performing the Full Monty.

“We’re all in our 40s and 50s, with some of us carrying a bit of extra weight. A few of us planned to lose a few pounds beforehand but that didn’t really work out.

"In any case, we wanted the calendar to be about real men and real women and the pictures have been getting some fantastic responses on the Wolves Ay We Facebook page.”

It took months to get all 11 volunteers together in the same room at the same time but now the calendar has gone to print and should be available for sale next month for sale.

They feature a model for each month with an ensemble shot for December. One hundred copies, at £7.95 each, have been ordered.

The group also plans to hold a fundraising night at the club in Wellington Road in November, with a disco, raffle and drag artist on the entertainment agenda. The plan is to raise £1,000 in total.
