Car lands on roof in Wolverhampton ring road smash

A driver escaped with minor injuries after his car flipped over and landed on its roof in Wolverhampton.

Firefighters were called to the scene by the city's ring road next to St John's Church on Friday evening.

The male driver was taken to hospital for precautionary checks after suffering injuries inflicted by the seatbelt to his shoulder and lower abdomen.

His car hit a a tree before landing on its roof.

The man managed to escape from the vehicle himself.

Two fire crews arrived at the incident, which happened at about 6.12pm, making the vehicle safe and giving the man first aid before an ambulance arrived.

He was taken to New Cross Hospital for further checks.

Meanwhile, shortly after in Kinver, three cars collided in Dunsley Road.

Firefighters from Stourbridge and Kinver Fire Station were called to the scene at about 7.15pm.

On arrival, everyone involved had made it out of their vehicles.

A woman received oxygen therapy and taken to hospital for a precautionary check.
