Main Wolverhampton route forced to close after man threatens to jump from bridge

A main road was sealed off this morning after a man threatened to jump from a bridge.

Specialist negotiators were drafted in after the man was seen on the bridge running over Wolverhampton Ring Road, near the city's train station.

The stretch was closed to traffic for around three hours as teams attempted to persuade the man not to jump.

It caused disruption for drivers heading into the city and towards the train station.

The drama unfolded from around 6.30am. The road was reopened around 9.30am after the incident was brought to a safe conclusion.
