Wolverhampton motorcyclist killed in A5 crash is named

A motorcyclist who died after a collision along the A5 has been named as Michael Nicholls.

The 52-year-old, from Wolverhampton, died at the scene of the crash on the westbound carriageway between Wall Island and Muckley Corner, near Burntwood.

The road was closed for a number of hours from about 8.15pm on Tuesday while emergency services dealt with the incident.

His family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time while officers from Staffordshire Police's Collision Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate.

Officers are appealing for anyone with any information about the collision to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: "We are now in a position to name the man who sadly lost his life following a road traffic collision on the A5 westbound carriageway between Wall Island and Muckley Corner on Tuesday.

"Michael Nicholls, aged 52, from Wolverhampton, sadly passed away at the scene.

"If you have any information relating to the collision please contact us on 101 quoting incident 761 of May 15."
