Police arrest man and two teenagers after stolen car chase

Police who pursued a stolen car have arrested a man and two teenagers, after tracking two of them down as they tried to escape through people’s back gardens.

The car, which had been stolen in Telford, had been reported to police after driving away without paying for petrol from a garage yesterday.

It was spotted by police at just after midnight on Thursday morning, as it was being driven erratically in the Bushbury area of Wolverhampton.

After police had pursued the car for over an hour, it pulled up in Westcroft Avenue and three people got out and ran away.

A man was detained by a police dog, but two youths made off on foot through back gardens, jumping over high fences.

They were chased by officers, who caught one as he tried to get away and then the other who was found trying to hide under a piece of plaster board in a garden.

A man, aged 34, and two boys, aged 17, have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a car.
