There was a heavy police presence in the city ahead and after the game at The Molineux, which finished with 2-0 to Wolves.

Head of Force Football Unit Inspector Howard Lewis Jones, said: “We had no reports of any disorder in or around the stadium and no arrests were made.

"I’d like to express my thanks to both sets of fans for making it an enjoyable, trouble-free occasion – it was among the most peaceful Midlands derby games in recent memory.

"The talking points should always be what happened on the pitch, not in the stands or surrounding pubs, and that’s exactly what we had at the Molineux on Saturday.”
