The Olympic bronze medallist made a special visit to Wolverhampton’s Civic Centre to open the new WV Cafe.

The 28 year old decided to pop along to the venue after being invited by mother-in-law Lynn Reid, who works at the ground-floor cafe.

The Wolverhampton-born athlete, who trains at Halesowen’s Earls Gym, said: “It’s a real honour to be invited.

"I was pleased to help when Lynn suggested it. She and her team are looking forward to working at the new venue.

"I enjoyed a wonderful lunch and would recommend it.”

Visitors to the Civic Centre or the wider city to call in and try it out.

“There’s something for everyone and I’m particularly impressed with the salad bar.”

Lynn, who lives in Wednesfield, said: “I’m so proud that my son-in-law has helped us promote it. He’s a true Wulfrunian and he’s achieved so much. It’s so fitting that he came to help us tell the people of Wolverhampton about this fantastic new facility.”

Kristian, who is originally from Wednesfield and now lives near Cannock with wife Gemma, is also a Silver World Championship medallist, and won Gold at 2015’s European Championships and 2014’s Commonwealth Games.
