Beverely Knight is back and shines in first TV appearance since operation

The 44-year-old West End singer from Wolverhampton made her first TV appearance on ITV's This Morning following her operation.

Wearing an elegant pink frock and natural hair, she beamed as she spoke about her career so far and her upcoming performance alongside Sir Tom Jones at the Royal Albert Hall this Friday.

Speaking to presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, Bev said she was 'glad' that she had 'got through' the past few months.

"I had uterine fibroids that were busy growing and I did not know about it," she explained.

"I had to have them removed and then have a hysterectomy. But now I am fine and back.

"I am just glad that I got through it. I had to move my tour. But it has given me so much life and get recovered and get ready for the tour."

This Friday Beverley will perform at The Royal Albert Hall to specifically celebrate the 50th anniversary of Memphis-based Stax Records, which was synonymous with Southern soul music.

It was when artists such as Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas, Arthur Conley and Eddie Floyd were welcomed to British turf.

She continued: "I will be on the stage alongside Tom (Jones) and duetting with Sam Moore, William Bell and performing on my own.

"I think the more you open your mind to opportunities they come flooding in. I always wanted to do something stage wise, but I never thought it would be on this scale of what it is now."

Beverley, given an MBE in 2007, is also set to step on stage in her first-ever pantomime this year in Birmingham Hippodrome’s Cinderella on December 19.

She added: "I'll be home for Christmas too in my first ever pantomime where I will be playing Fairy Godmother - it should be really good fun.

"My management always said to me take the meeting and just see how you feel after - and good things have certainly come my way."
