Carver Wolverhampton City Marathon 2017: These are the road closures you need to know about
Details of road closures during this year’s Carver Wolverhampton City Marathon have been announced.
This year’s marathon, being held on September 3, will see people take to the streets for the 20th year in succession.
Several roads near West Park, where the race starts and ends, will be closed from 8am until 3.30pm.
These include Bath Road; Park Road East; Park Road West between its junctions with Kingsland Road and Albert Road; Park Crescent; and Riches Street at its junction with Albert Road.
The majority of Park Road West will be closed from 8am until 10am, along with Upper Vauxhall, Summerfield Road and Connaught Road on that side of the park.
From 8.30am until 10am a large section of the A41 Tettenhall Road from Albert Road to Bath Road will be shut, as will Waterloo Road from the ring road to its junction with Newhampton Road East, just up from Molineux.
During those hours a short section of the city's ring road will also be effected by lane restrictions, for traffic heading from the Chapel Ash island to the junction with Waterloo Road.
Newhampton Road East will be closed between Waterloo Road and Hunter Street to traffic heading away from the city centre from 8.30am until 10.30am.
Court Road, Park Avenue, Lansdowne Road, Devon Road, Kingsland Road and Newhampton Road West will also be shut between those hours.
As the marathon route heads toward Oxley, Aldersley Road will be closed between Hordern Road and Oxley Moor Road, and Oxley Moor Road will be closed between Aldersley Road and Probert Road.
These closures will be in effect from 8.45am until 1pm.
Crowther Road, which joins the A41 by The Newbridge pub, will be shut from 8.45am until 2.30pm, along with Hordern Road where it crosses the canal and Aldersley Road from Hordern Road to Lower Street.
A long closure will also be in place in Pendeford with The Droveway shut between Ryefield and Leybourne Crescent from 9.30am until 2pm.
The annual event has been a landmark event in the city’s calendar since the late 1990s.

There will be six events. These include the marathon, half-marathon, 10km run, cycle route, walk through West Park and wheel and wheelchair events.
