Staggering sums of cash have been tabled towards several projects in the city bringing new homes and businesses.

Things are set to change for people getting around Wolverhampton and travelling into the city in the coming years.

Work is already under way creating a new look for Wolverhampton Railway Station together with extended Midland Metro line.

Work will start in early 2018.

There will be a golden pathway through the city centre linking Molineux with the city centre under these plans.

The plans would see a new road created over the existing ring road and behind Waterloo Road which is to the right of the image.

The image forms part of a new masterplan put together by Wolverhampton council to improve links for pedestrians and cyclists in and around the city centre.

A striking office building called the i9 would be created close to the city's railway station under proposals.

It will be built on Railway Drive next to the Chubb Buildings and over the road from its i10 counterpart.

Council bosses say work could start around the end of the year and be completed by the end of 2018 at a cost of around £12 million.

Dazzling designs showcase the future look for the city's revamped railway station.

The station will be revamped as part of the ongoing £132 million Interchange project.

The existing Railway Drive will be closed to motorists and eventually, the works will also see a Metro line extension running down the drive to a new stop.

A total of 13 taxi spaces will also be available, whilst the number of spaces available in the extended multi-story car park will almost double – going from 450 to 800.

Shopaholics will be treated to a much-improved experience with work already well under way on transforming the city's Mander Centre, anchored by a new Debenhams store.

It is expected that the new Debenhams will open in October.
