1940s at Bushbury care home
Residents at a care home took a trip down memory lane in an event raising awareness of dementia.
Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home, in Old Fallings Lane, Bushbury, is marking Dementia Awareness Week.
Staff put on a 1940s with members dressing in a-line skirts and polka dots.
Large reminiscence boards filled with themed memorabilia from local historian Mervin Srodzinsky were also up at the home.
While vintage vocal harmony trio the Bluebird Belles performed music.
The nostalgic celebrations were highlight the fun and simple ways to engage with people living with dementia.
Sanctuary Care runs the home.
Home activities leader Jayne Woods said: “Every year we pull out all the stops to help raise awareness during Dementia Awareness Week as it’s a cause so close to our hearts, and this year is no different .
"Our residents love a trip down memory lane and reminiscence is so beneficial for those living with dementia.”
Dementia Awareness Week, an awareness drive from the Alzheimer’s Society, is a week where people all over the country are encouraged to unite with their communities to raise awareness of dementia.
Sanctuary Care was established in 1995.
