Willenhall girl with cerebral palsy granted wish to meet Little Mix
A Black Country girl who suffers from cerebral palsy has had her dream come true by meeting pop powerhouses Little Mix.
Lillie Windsor, from Willenhall, was granted her wish to meet the girl band by Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity.
The group, which consists of Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jesy Nelson, are ambassadors for the London-based charity and Lillie was one of 12 children that met the group at an exclusive event in the capital.
The seven-year-old uses a manual wheelchair due to her condition which affects all four of her limbs, as well as control of her head, meaning she must be tube fed as she can't swallow.
She will need ongoing speech and language therapy as well as physiotherapy to manage her condition.
Despite this, Lillie is described as a very happy girl and is a huge fan of the pop group.
Her parents Kim and Ben even use Little Mix videos to keep the youngster interested during her therapy sessions, and take her to dance class to learn routines to her favourites songs from the group.
The 2019 BRIT Award winners spent time with the 12 children and their families and took questions from the children.
Lillie's mother Kim said: “Thank you so much to everyone at Rays of Sunshine for what you did for Lillie, she had an amazing weekend.
"Every time someone asks her about Little Mix she just explodes in excitement!
"It was an amazing treat after the year she's had and especially with her operation coming up next week. Thank you all so much.”
Little Mix posted on their social media channels to share photos from the event and said: “We loved meeting these brave and inspiring children at our Rays of Sunshine wish day. We’re honoured to be ambassadors for this amazing charity, thanks for having us."
Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity was formed in 2003 to grant wishes and provide support for seriously ill children across the UK.
