The Sneyd Community Association pool was initially closed last summer for boiler repair work and had been due to reopen in October, before a 14 metre crack in the pool was discovered. As a result of the crack, both the tiles and the structure of the facility were impacted.

An initial investigation indicated the pool was unsafe and any repairs would prove to be costly for the authority.

However, the community rallied together and campaigned for the pool to be saved, with a petition garnering more than 1,500 signatures.

Walsall Council then launched an investigation with external consultants to determine the repairs required and the costs needed to carry out the work.

However, in May the council determined that the pool would not re-open, shattering the hopes of the faithful users of the pool.

A spokesperson for the Sneyd Community Association said: "We would like to thank you all for your custom over the years and also for the support you shown in your fight to get the pool re-opened.
