Dozens of toys donated to poorly children in Walsall this Christmas
Dozens of toys have been donated to children in hospital thanks to a community fundraising drive in Walsall.
Anchors Estates' – an estate agent in Aldridge – launched the appeal to bring festive cheer to children who would be patients at Walsall Manor Hospital's children's' department during Christmas.
Staff delivered 'a car-full' of presents this week and said they were 'overwhelmed' at how many had been donated.
Debbie Dyer, director at the High Street-based firm, said: "It was overwhelming how caring people were, donating like this.
"It was lovely, and the hospital staff were absolutely overwhelmed. I'm sure we'll be doing something similar next year.
"We received everything from battery operated fire engines, to dinosaur eggs, to colouring sets, a real variety of toys.
"We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, especially with what's going on in the world. We are so thankful."
The company started a wish list on its Facebook site to get specific toys for children, as well as general ones – so all ages would be catered for.
Debbie added: "It is the first time we have done it. I have been with the company for about three months now. This was something I wanted to do to help people who are less fortunate than ourselves at Christmas and do our bit for the community.”
Members of the community dropped off items at the firm, at Debbie's house and even had people buying toys through Amazon and then having them posted directly to the business.
