Residents have spoken of the destructive force of the water.

It took around three hours to stem the leak.

Firefighters from Walsall, Bloxwich and Aldridge stations were sent to the scene.

Water also flowed into Skip Lane, Longmeadow Road and Sutton Road close to The Longhorn pub.

West Midlands Fire Service said the burst main had affected a number of houses.

South Staffs Water said: "The burst water main in Sutton Road / Fallowfield Road, Walsall has now been isolated and all supplies have now been restored. Customers should be receiving normal levels of service.

"We're aware of several properties that have been affected by water damage and are working with residents to assess the impact.

"Our media vehicle is on site at Fallowfield Road by the junction to Daffodil Road and has teams available to assist customers and deal with any enquiries.

"Customers affected by the burst may notice their water is a different colour to what they'd usually expect, please don’t worry, this is perfectly normal.

"Although the water may not look very nice, it’s not harmful to health. Running the cold water tap in your kitchen for 20 minutes may help to clear it."

"We would also like to thank residents for their patience and understanding.”
