Restaurant to be moved at Walsall Town Hall
The restaurant at the Town Hall is set to be relocated to make way for a library.
Walsall Council has identified former officer space to accommodate a new bar which they say is needed in order to host large public events.
Walsall Central Library has closed for ten months while a £4.3m revamp is underway.
As a result a temporary seven-days-a-week has opened up at the town hall.
A council spokeswoman said: "The application for a variation of the Walsall Town Hall premises licence has been made as a result of the former Town Hall Restaurant being repurposed as the location for the temporary library while Walsall Central Library is being renovated.
"Essentially, with the restaurant area no longer available for use as bar area for the time being —and the need for a second bar area to service big events — a new temporary area has been identified for use as the venue’s second bar (old office space).
"As this area is not licensed, the application is to licence this area to allow the service of alcohol."
