The Walsall Pleasure Painters, who meet twice a week at St Michaels Church, Leigh Road, will show off their paintings at an exhibition which is open to the public after months of hard work.

The group has been going for 13 years and hosted numerous exhibitions over the years.

On Saturday, their latest efforts will go on display at the church.

Group leader Hazel Jones, 83, from Walsall, said: "We have such a great group of artists within the group so we always appreciate being given the chance to show off our work.

"People work on what they want to do individually, so its not one particular theme, there will be a good variety of pieces on display."

The group acts as a place for people to learn more about how to improve their painting in a social setting.

It is the camaraderie amongst regulars which makes the Pleasure Painters so enjoyable, according to Hazel.

She said: "Everyone gets on so well and a few of our members are in their later years, so they enjoy getting together with other people regularly.

"We have people come along who are very experienced and some who are just starting out but everyone interacts and learns from each other."

The exhibition will take place on Saturday from 11am to 3pm and is free to attend.
