The annual show by the Walsall Patchwork and Quilters took place at St Michael the Archangel Church on Leigh Road in Rushall on Saturday.

Organisers decided the theme of this year's exhibition would be 'Past Linking Present'.

Quilts and embroideries were displayed at the event, as well as a charity quilt which was donated.

Group members also created festive prizes which were won in a tombola held in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance.

The event was hailed as a success, by Walsall Patchwork and Quilters member Betty Tomlinson.

She said: "It went very well and I think we had a good turnout.

"The theme this year was all to do with chains to start with.

"We always try to have a theme for our exhibitions – in the past we've had things including rooms in a quilter's cottage, harvest of the land and harvest of the water.

"We've had all sorts of different themes over the years.

"We always try to make it interesting for people who aren't quilters themselves.

"This year I did a quilt which had different designs on each side – on one side I did the past and on the other I did the present."
