Large traveller group arrives at Barr Beacon after caravans leave Aldridge Community Centre

Travellers have moved off land near Aldridge Community Centre while another encampment has returned to Barr Beacon.

Travellers were spotted on Barr Beacon in February and numerous encampments have set up ever since.

The large group of more than 40 caravans, which is thought to be the same one which wreaked havoc at Walsall Arboretum last week, arrived at Anchor Meadow on Thursday.

Most of the caravans left on Sunday evening while the rest vacated the plot yesterday morning - Monday.

Concerns had grown about the encampment over the weekend with community groups set to use the centre yesterday.

Now attention has turned to Barr Beacon where travellers have pitched up once again after being there less than a fortnight ago not to mention numerous other occasions this year.

Walsall Council confirmed they were aware of the latest encampment while Clean and Green officers were on site in Aldridge clearing away the rubbish left behind.
