Baby rescued after being locked in car

Firefighters rescued a 15 week old baby who was accidentally locked in his mother's car.

A five man crew from Bloxwich Fire Station were sent to Bloxwich Road in Short Heath at around 1pm after a call reporting that a baby had been locked in a car on the driveway of a property in the street.

The crew was able to rescue the child using small tools to open up the vehicle.

West Midlands Fire Service spokesman Neil Spencer said: "The mother of the baby called for assistance after accidentally locking the child in the family car.

"A five man crew in one engine was sent and they managed to get the child out of the car quickly using small tools."

Bloxwich Fire Station shared information about the incident on social media, tweeting: "15 week old baby rescued after accidentally being locked in the family car.

"Mother and baby appreciating fast response #notjustfires."
