Open air play returning to Walsall Arboretum

Heartbreak Productions has been touring its Murder on the Terrace play around the country, with its latest stop being Walsall Arboretum this Sunday.

The play, based around the death at a garden party, is described as a 'farcical' romp and involves plenty of audience reaction. It is the second open air play to be performed at the arboretum, following on from the performance of The Secret Garden last month.

Councillor Chris Jones, Walsall Council's clean and green boss, said: "Feedback from this company’s production of the Secret Garden in July was great, so they’re very much welcomed back to Walsall Arboretum.”

Heartbreak productions say its show is part Downton, part Agatha Christie, full of innuendo and a whole heap of fun. The upstairs-downstairs tale mixes a garden party, a pet parrot and aa sardonic inspector.

Councillor Jones added: “The visitor centre will be serving refreshments during the interval, but you could always bring a picnic if you prefer. There are two other essentials to bring along: something to sit on and your sleuthing skills!”

Heartbreak Productions has been touring both the UK and abroad for more than 25 years with a repertoire of productions numbering more than 50. Murder on the terrace is part of the company’s 2017 summer season which also includes The Secret Garden, Billionaire Boy, Northanger Abbey and The Taming of the Shrew.

The show is expected to last for two-and-a-half hours with a 20 minute interval. The gates open at 4pm for picnics with the performance starting at 5pm.
