Tasty Grill in Birchills, Walsall, is in ruins following the fire, which broke out at 11am today.

West Midlands Fire Service received a number of 999 calls to the incident in Birchills Street – which saw smoke damage the whole two-storey building.

Sixty per cent of room that the fire started in was damaged by fire.

Firefighters had extinguished the blaze 17 minutes after arriving at the scene.

A fire service spokesman said: "The caller said there was smoke coming from the chimney of the building.

"We sent two crews including 10 firefighters from Walsall and Bloxwich.

"Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used hose reel jets to tackle the fire.

"They then conducted a search of the other floors in the building and used ventilation equipment to clear the premises of smoke and fumes."
