Cynthia Moore, a resident at Bridal Court in Madeley, took on Macmillan's Brave The Shave campaign.

She has raised £330 in sponsorship money so far, with the funds being donated to Macmillan to help fund the vital work they do.

Around 20 people from Bridal Court retirement home gathered to show their support at a coffee morning.

"I don't think everyone realised I was shaving it all off," explained Cynthia.

"It went brilliantly. All my hair has gone, right down to the bare skin – and It doesn't even feel cold."

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.

"It's important to raise funds for Macmillan," added Cynthia.

"I've had cancer twice. Back in 2002 I had breast cancer and I had to have chemotherapy, so I'm used to having no hair. It was great to have so much support on the day, you should have seen their faces."

So far more than 8,767 people around the UK have taken part in the challenge, having raised over £16.8 million raised since 2015.

As well as fundraising for Macmillan, participants often give your hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs to children and young adults who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.
