The land behind 52 to 63 North Walls is currently densely populated with trees, a council report said, and has been valued at £30,000 for the sale of the freehold.

The current owner of 52 to 63 North Walls, Midsoft UK Limited, has asked to buy the council-owned land to extend its current car park.

On Thursday, November 5, Stafford Borough Council’s cabinet agreed to sell the land to the business software company.

Previously the site was home to a support centre for blind and partially sighted people.

The cabinet report said: “The council owns the land which measures approximately 0.19 hectares (0.47 acres).

“The northern and western boundaries are separated from the car park serving the retail park by a post and rail fence. The eastern boundary adjoins wetland which forms part of the flood plain and is council-owned.

“The council has negotiated a sale subject to a restriction on the use, to one that is ancillary to the purchasers’ adjoining property.

"The land will also be subject to a clawback clause in the event of planning consent being obtained for any development of the land at a later date.”
