Veolia to be given £35 million Stafford bins contract
A £35 million contract to provide household waste and recycling collection in Stafford for the next 10 years is to be awarded to Veolia.
The company is Stafford Borough Council's preferred choice for the contract, the biggest ever awarded by the authority.
Veolia are expected to take over the running of the weekly household bin collection service from Biffa in February next year.
The Council has reassured residents that the service will continue in the same way with green bins for general waste, blue for recycling and brown for garden waste.
Councillor Frank Finlay, Cabinet Member for Environment and Health, said: “We want this important service to our residents to continue to be delivered in an excellent manner."
The borough currently recycles more than 54 per cent from the bins of over 57,000 local households.
The Council has previously praised local residents for their help in boosting recycling rates while reducing the amount of contamination in their bins.
