Residents face a fresh fight after a new application for a gipsy site in Essington was lodged.

Four previous applications for the site, which backs on to residential properties on Long Lane, have been rejected

Essington residents are expected to object to the scheme submitted to South Staffordshire Council.

Councillor David Clifft said: "It backs on to property by Green Belt lane and all the applications we've had in the past have been rejected, based on a lack of sustainability.

"Residents will be fighting this again, there is a gipsy site just around the corner and there's already three in Essington."

The proposal states: "Material change of use of land to use as a residential caravan site for one gipsy household with two caravans including no more than one static caravan."

A public meeting will take place on Thursday at Wyrley Juniors Football Club on Long Lane at 7pm.
