The crash took place at the junction of the A454 Bridgnorth Road at the junction of Clive Road at 3.27pm yesterday.

Two cars were involved in the crash, with reports of one car mounting the pavement close to the children's play area of the nearby Fox at Shipley pub.

A 92-year-old woman who was a rear seat passenger in one of the cars was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the incident.

One car is believed to have been travelling from Fox Road towards Clive Road to Pattingham whilst another was reported travelling straight along Bridgnorth Road.

Police closed the road until 5.05pm to enable debris to be cleared. One police are attended with two officers sent from Wombourne station.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called at 15.27pm to reports of a road traffic collision (RTC) at the Fox at Shipley junction.

"A 92-year-old female who was a rear seat passenger in one of the cars was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries. We do not have any information as to which hospital she attended.

"We closed the road until 5.05pm to enable debris to be cleared. We do not have any other information regarding the drivers of the cars or other passengers."

Neil Taylor of The Fox at Shipley said: "This is an accident black spot.

"By the grace of god the car that mounted the pavement close to the children's play area did not go any further, otherwise it could have been a very different story.

"Something needs to be done as soon as possible to address the problems here."
