Access Bookings, which organises travel arrangements for the `media sector, is proud to announce the installation of a state-of-the-art defibrillator outside its offices in Lichfield.

The equipment, which can be used to treat cardiac arrest, has been installed at the company's building in Cross Keys near Stowe Pool, and is available to the public during emergencies.

Registered on The Circuit, the national database for defibrillators, the device is easy to locate and use, offering instructions to guide users through the process.

Adam Hall of Access Bookings said the company believed in giving back to the community whenever possible.

“This defibrillator is more than just a piece of equipment; it’s a lifeline in the event of an emergency and we want to provide locals with a vital resource should the worst happen to a loved one while out and about," he said.

The company thanked defibrillator specialist AED Donate for its support with the project.

Rachel Richards, head of operations at AED Donate, added: “Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, at any age, at any time, and access to this equipment can provide immediate care when every second counts. Community defibrillators are easy to use, provide simple instructions, and are designed for any layperson to operate.

“In order to achieve the best possible outcome from a sudden cardiac arrest, it is crucial to recognise the signs, call 999, and start cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. With access to a defibrillator, we can make a difference.”

A defibrillator works by delivering a controlled electric shock to the heart, which helps to reset the heart's electrical system and allows it to regain a normal rhythm. The defibrillators installed at Access Bookings are available 24 hours a day and are registered on The Circuit, meaning the ambulance service can deploy the machines without delay in a life-threatening emergency.
