We Love Lichfield received the donation from Access Bookings, a company based in the city which specialised in providing accommodation for the television and movie industry.

We Love Lichfield places funds in long-term investments, and uses the income to provide grants to charities and community groups in the city.

James Austin from Access Bookings said he had been impressed by how the charity was making a real difference in the city.

“Our business takes us across the world but our heart is very much in Lichfield," he said.

"We have seen the fantastic work of We Love Lichfield and wanted to support them.

"Not only are they raising funds for now, they are creating a lasting legacy too. Their model will enable Lichfield, Burntwood and the surrounding villages to have support for generations to come."

Mr Austin said the charity had captured his company's imagination after being invited to its annual 'grant giveaway event', where the grants are announced. It also provides charities with a chance to meet one another, and promote their work.

Mr Austin added: “For me, their grant giveaway was everything that is special about the area. It was truly inspiring and we decided there and then we wanted to support.”

Simon Price, patron of We Love Lichfield thanked Access Bookings for the donation, and said he was also grateful for Mr Austin's kind words about why he was supporting it.

"Yes we want to raise funds for the local voluntary sector, but we also want to be a platform for the local voluntary sector and community to grow," he said.

"”Since starting over a decade ago, We Love Lichfield has given away just over £420,000 in 428 grants to 228 organisations."

He said the support of local businesses was vital and welcomed anyone to get in touch to see how they could help.
