The 74-year-old ex-Conservative politician has reportedly signed a six-figure deal to take part after political stars were banned from the broadcaster's other reality show, I'm A Celeb.

A source told national media that ITV bosses are "excited" to have him take part in the popular reality show, adding that they wanted a "top politician with enormous personality" to entertain the viewers.

They added: "He recently lost his seat so was available, already the execs are excited that he will be a star of the series.

"Michael is not only instantly recognisable but also is so likely to say the wrong thing, start some debates and really ramp things up in the house."

Fabricant represented Lichfield in Staffordshire as an MP from 1992 until his defeat in 2024. He also served as vice-chairman of the Conservative Party under David Cameron.

His appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, which premieres on April 7, marks not his first venture into reality TV. In 2017, he took part in Channel 4's First Dates: Celebrity Special to raise funds for Stand Up To Cancer.
