Brave Mylo the cat hoping for another chance of happy life after two stints in care
A moggie who has been lovingly nursed back to health during a nine-month stay in charity care is now looking for a new chance at a happy life.
Dedicated volunteers from the Lichfield and Tamworth Branch of Cats Protection have been caring for six-year-old Mylo since last summer after his previous owner struggled to cope with his special needs.
It was unfortunately his second stint in care, having already been a resident at the charity’s Birmingham Adoption Centre several years ago.
The brave cat arrived back in care in a sorry state, having had to have his heavily-matted fur shaved off.
He had also become overweight which had triggered diabetes. The disease had been left largely untreated and then led to him losing too much weight.
His levels have now stabilised, he’s putting on weight, and his fur is growing back slowly, revealing him to be a handsome, fluffy white and black boy.
Mylo needs experienced, understanding owners, with two people required to administer his insulin injections twice a day.
He also requires a particular dry food for his sensitive stomach, as well as regular grooming to prevent his fur matting again.
Sue Hocknell, Volunteer fosterer, said: “Despite his struggles, Mylo is a gorgeous cat who loves attention, and who is vocal when he’s hungry!
"If I didn’t have three cats of my own, I would certainly have adopted him.
“He needs someone who can really commit to keeping him healthy but the effort will certainly be worth it because he is such an affectionate cat. We think he will be fine with other cats, but not dogs.”
