Work on final section of Lichfield southern bypass almost finished
Work on the final section of Lichfield’s multi-million pound southern bypass is almost complete – with construction beginning on the next phase.
The new section of road will complete what will be an essential part of the city’s infrastructure and support the delivery of new housing and future growth.
Work has now begun to build the spine road from Birmingham Road under the railway and through the housing development land to London Road.
The scheme will connect the A5127 Birmingham Road with the A5206 London Road using the new underpass beneath the Cross City railway line which is nearing completion.
The latest phase of works will also include building a retaining wall for a proposed new section of canal.
