Landywood Primary School in Great Wyrley hosted a range of fun Christmas activities for the youngsters – including an Early Years nativity which was videoed and shared with the parents, and a Santa's Grotto.

Headteacher Andrew Clewer said: "Our staff have worked incredibly hard to make this week such a success.

"It is such an important time of the year for primary aged children and through detailed risk assessing all our usual activities, we have been able to ensure the children enjoy participating in a wide range of Christmas activities during the week.

"Rather than allow Covid to prevent this important week from being enjoyed by all our children and staff, through careful planning our pupils have had a lovely end to an unusual term. To see all their smiling faces has made all the work so worthwhile."

Each class in Years 1 to 6 shared a Christmas message through songs, poems and art work. And all children visited Santa in his grotto, carefully created outside.

There was also a school Christmas lunch for everyone, and the PTFA organised for each child to decorate a plate, decorate a gingerbread man and enjoy a hot chocolate.

The school also purchased a virtual theatre production of Sleeping Beauty for classes to watch, and each class has a Christmas party in their own bubble.
