The Museum of Cannock Chase and Cannock's Prince of Wales Theatre could close permanently next year to help cover costs in the council's budget gap.
The controversial move comes after a meeting on Thursday where the current Labour cabinet in Cannock Chase Council proposed the closure of both venues to help cover a £1.5 million gap in its budget for 2025/26.
The proposal sparked outrage from Cannock residents, who say the move will be 'the death of theatre' in the area and the loss of the museum will 'destroy Cannock history.'
Talking about the potential closure, Josh and Jade Richardson, both from Cannock, said: "You cannot take these away without taking away a part of Cannock.
"They are a part of who we are, the museum holds a large part of our history, the things in there are part of who we are. If you take these things away, it's saying that Cannock doesn't matter.
