Family-friendly market finally held in Hednesford after coronavirus delays

Hednesford's first artisan market of the year – which was postponed in March due to lockdown – has proved a hit.

Held in Market Street, it was organised by Hednesford in Partnership and was held on Saturdayfor the first time in the area for 2020.

It was originally due to be held in March – but coronavirus restrictions saw it put off.

Organisers said the first event went "very well" with plans for more in the future.

There were woodfired pizzas on offer, a free bouncy castle to play on for the children – with social distancing rules in place – and several arts and crafts stalls

There were also performances by local singers including Hednesford singer and guitarist Steve Hooper on a dedicated stage.

Hednesford in Partnership closely monitored the event to ensure social distancing and other guidelines were adhered to at all times – they also made sure hand sanitiser was provided.

Chairman of Hednesford Town Council Kathryn Downs said: "We're really pleased to be at the artisan market in Hednesford. We had lots of stalls and treats in store.

"There were a few showers but plenty of sunny spells in between. It was a really lovely day."

Visitors were encouraged to wear masks on the day – and urged to come and support local businesses.
