Although those going along to Cannock Library to see the exhibition may be scratching their heads trying to recognise one particular picture, which happens to be the artist himself David Brevitt.

The 70-year-old from Rugeley has around 20 oil paintings on display at the venue at the moment which will remain there until the end of the month.

Actors Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman are also among the selection.

David spends up to four hours painting each one.

He said: "I just find portraits more interesting to do. I feel the characters come out while you are painting.

"I just see a picture in a paper or magazine, one that attracts me, and go from there.

"I always paint from photographs, never real-life because people can't stay still long enough."

The former contracts manager, who is now retired, will be doing a demonstration for Bridgnorth Art Society today (Wednesday) while later on in the month he hopes to do the same in the library.
