Police appeal after elderly man has £400 cash stolen in Cannock

Staffordshire Police is appealing for information after an elderly man had £400 stolen from him outside the Cannock Unionist Club.

Officers have released CCTV stills of the man they want to speak to in relation with the incident, which happened last month.

Police say the man pictured approached an elderly man around 12.50pm on Wednesday September 20 outside the Unionist Club in High Green. He asked the elderly man for a lighter before stealing £400 cash from his wallet and running off into the town centre.

A spokesman for the force said: "The suspect is a tanned male believed to be of eastern European or Asian ethnicity, aged in his late 30s or early 40s. He was last seen wearing a dark brown jacket, blue jeans, and white pumps.

"If you witnessed the theft or have any information that may help identify the man, please contact us on 101 quoting reference 351 of September 20. Alternatively, you can provide information anonymously to Crimestoppers, online or on 0800 555 111."
