Body of woman found in flat prompting investigation

Staffordshire Police want help in trying to unravel the mystery of a woman's body found after they were called to a flat.

Staffordshire Police launched an investigation after a body of a woman was found

The grim discovery was made by officers called to the address in Herondale, Cannock, at around 2.20pm on Saturday.

The death is being treated as unexplained and a post mortem examination will take place.

The woman has yet to be formally identified but her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A detailed forensic examination of the property is underway and officers are carrying out inquiries in the locality.

Police trying to piece together her movements want to hear from anyone who has seen the woman in recent days, or knows of any visitors who called on her.

Officers asked anyone with information to call police on 101 quoting incident 481 of July 1, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
