Emergency resurfacing works on busy A-road near Wolverhampton completed
National Highways has announced that the emergency resurfacing works on major stretch of the A449 has been completed following a 'spillage' yesterday.

An 'extensive' hydraulic fluid spillage in Staffordshire led to the closure of the southbound A449 Stafford Road between the A5 at Gailey and the M54 at Coven Heath, with delays of up to 20 minutes being reported.
The incident was first reported by National Highways West Midlands at around 12.15pm on Wednesday (May 21), with the entirety of the southbound stretch closed due to the incident and traffic being diverted away.

Specialist teams attempted to remove the spill with a 'hydro blaster' to no avail - leaving the road in need of an emergency resurfacing.
However, the works have now been completed, National Highways announced this morning (May 22).
In a post on X, a spokesperson said: "These emergency resurfacing works are now complete, and the #A449 is now OPEN southbound between #A5 #Gailey and #M54 J2 #CovenHeath.
"There are no significant delays in the area. Thanks for your patience."
