A man was airlifted to hospital with 'potentially serious' injuries after a crash in Staffordshire left a car crumpled.

Staffordshire Police's roads crime team said officers were called to a crash involving a car and HGV on the A5 in Wheaton Aston on Tuesday morning (April 29).

An air ambulance was also called to the scene. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service said a man was treated for potentially serious injuries before being airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

A WMAS spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and HGV on the A5 in Wheaton Aston at 11.18am yesterday. 

"One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene. 

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, from the car. 

"He was treated for potentially serious injuries before being airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital."

Staffordshire Police's roads crime team posted on X yesterday a picture of the crumpled car, along with: "This morning we have attended a 2 vehicle collision on the A5 in @southstaffs, along with @MAACharity."
