Stafford man jailed for attempting to supply 'monkey dust' drug

A man has been jailed for 14 months after being caught trying to supply the drug monkey dust.

Steven Dawkins was stopped by officers in Greengate Street, Stafford, town centre on May 29.

Officers discovered 4.1 grams of the Class B drug.

The 28-year-old, of Merrivale Road, Rising Brook, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply the drug.

He was sentenced on January 2 at Stafford Crown Court.

Co-defendant Morgan Bailey, also of Merrivale Road, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis – after he was caught with 64.2 grams by officers in the town centre.

The 22-year-old will be sentenced at the court on January 31.

Sgt Tom Fotherby, of Stafford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The team has been working very hard and we have secured a number of convictions for those intending to supply drugs in Stafford in recent months.

“We want to send out a clear message that we will bring dealers before the courts.”
