Johnson Design Partnership (JDP) continues to combine the latest construction techniques with the integration of technology to create socially conscious designs and this approach is helping it win tenders against rivals ten times its size.
The Bridgnorth-based company, which recently increased its team to nine with the appointment of Nick Rees as Business Development Manager with a focus on client relations, has seen strong growth working with the NHS and will shortly start on a masterplan review and a new four-storey hospital wing for outpatients.
It comes as the business - led by Vic Johnson and Matt Spinks - announced its busiest ever year, completing projects worth more than £250m.
“The NHS and education systems offer us significant potential for growth, especially with the new government committing more funding to begin solving some of the building issues they are facing,” explained Vic, who started the business in 2001.
“Architects and designers are ultimately problem solvers and that’s exactly what we do. We use our knowledge, experience and expertise to create innovative, functional and sustainable spaces that enhance healthcare delivery and learning environments.”
He continued: “JDP has completed more than 50 projects across these two worlds and are also members of the NHS Shared Business Services Framework, proving our pedigree for taking on and completing complex contracts.”
Johnson Design Partnership offers a complete project management service from feasibility work and planning to detailed design, project monitoring and contract administration.
It has recently invested in the latest 3D design software and management systems, as well as launching a new corporate identity and digital media campaign to showcase its vast array of successful projects and the design solutions it offers.
Matt Spinks, Director of JDP, added: “Another area we are seeing growing interest in is Paragraph 84 properties, which offer unique opportunities to create ambitious and groundbreaking homes in rural areas.
“While these planning applications are complex, time-intensive, and costly, they provide an avenue for visionary clients to achieve statement architecture and bespoke, showstopping homes.
“The long-term investment potential and architectural impact make these projects highly rewarding for those willing to take on the challenge and we are one of a select number of architects who have experience of getting these projects through planning.”
Johnson Design Partnership, which believes the role of colour, technology integration and open plan design will be the three big architecture trends of 2025, is also looking to tap into international opportunities through a closer working relationship with the Department for Business and Trade.
Several early-stage collaborations are being developed with clients in Saudi Arabia, as the Kingdom’s focus on sustainability and visionary design aligns itself perfectly with JDP’s own expertise and values.
