Grenfell Tower fire: Ex-Shrewsbury Town star Marvin Morgan aims to raise £10,000 for victims
Former Shrewsbury Town footballer Marvin Morgan was staging a celebrity football match today as he bids to raise £10,000 for victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.
The ex-Shrews, Aldershot and Plymouth striker has enlisted the help of his friends from the game and beyond to put on the charity match in Hertford.
The 34-year-old was among the thousands who came to the aid of victims following Tuesday night's tragedy.
Watford-based Morgan dropped off a van's worth of clothes, food and water to one of the help centres, and also gave money, on Wednesday in a co-ordinated effort after appealing to his 13,000 Twitter followers.
And he is continuing his attempts to help with the match which he hopes will raise a huge emergency fund for the victims.
The game will be between Team FEK – named after Morgan's clothing brand Fresh Ego Kid – and a team selected by James Mulley and Leon Skinner founders of The Hangout, an exclusive members social event held in London on Sundays, and who are also close friends of heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua.
Morgan's side will include the likes of Lazio's Ravel Morrison, Brentford captain Harlee Dean, Portsmouth striker Jamal Lowe and Peterborough midfielder Anthony Grant along with a number of semi-pros and social media personalities.
