Water has been restored to most local households though there will be a discolouration of water for some residents.

A spokesman for South Staffs Water said: "Our team worked through the night on repairing the problem and continue to do so this morning. Water has now been restored to almost all customers.

"Customers may experience discolouration, and if so, they should run their tap until the water runs clear. Please keep an eye on our social channels for updates and our website for information on what do if you have discoloured water."

The company posted an update at 10am this morning: "Some customers in a small part of Tipton may experience interruptions to their supply whilst we continue working in the area. We expect this to be resolved within the next 90 minutes."

Customers around Ocker Hill in Tipton complained the water still has no pressure.

Adam James asked the company: "Any idea why our water was back on yesterday, but now we have hardly any pressure, just a trickle, Ocker Hill area."

Firefighters have been working with water staff to ensure residents have been helped through the flooding, no injuries have been reported.

A West Midlands Fire Service incident update said this morning: "WMFS crews were on site at the flooding in the Leabrook Road area until the early hours of this morning. Fire Service personnel also aided in water distribution from the Gallagher Retail Park.

"The scene was handed over to South Staffs Water (SSW) at 2am with the water level significantly reduced. SSW worked throughout the night to repair the burst water main. It has now been confirmed that water has been restored to all customers.

"Customers may see discolouration, and should run taps until the water runs clear. Discoloured water should NOT be drunk or used in cooking. Some customers in a small part of Tipton may experience interruptions to their supply whilst SSW continue working in the area. They expect this to be resolved within the next 90 minutes."

The update added: "A generator was set up last night by National Grid for the handful of residents still without electricity. They will be reconnected today.

"WMFS crews have returned to the church on Leabrook Road North this morning to assist with standing water in the cellar."
