The new facility will be built on Londonderry Playing Fields and will host swimming and diving competitions during the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Plans include a 50m Olympic-sized competition swimming pool and 25m diving pool.

Alongside swimming facilities, the centre will boast a dry-dive facility, gym, ladies only gym, activity studios, eight-court sports hall, indoor cycling studio and cafe.

Sandwell Council's cabinet member for leisure, Bill Gavan said: "The centre will give us a great legacy for Sandwell beyond the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and we want people to be involved in its design.”

Public drop-in sessions will take place at St Mark's Church, in Thimblemill Road, on Tuesday, January 8, between 5pm and 8pm, and Thursday, January 10, between 9am and 5pm.
