Culture is celebrated at Smethwick festival
A colourful celebration of culture and cuisine took place in Smethwick.
Thousands descended on Victoria Park for their annual Asian music and food festival on Sunday.
Performers took to the stage as tasty classic dishes were served around the venue along with fun fair rides for children.
Councillor Bawa Singh Dhallu, who was behind organising the event, said: "It went beyond our expectations. It was fantastic. The numbers increased this year which was great news for us too.
"One of the best acts was Geeta Zaildar who came all the way from India. The crowds were so positive about it all.
"It was a community festival for everyone to attend and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces."
Revellers came from far and wide across Sandwell and Birmingham to enjoy the sights and sounds of the festival.
International food, shopping stalls and businesses were also on display at the event which ran from 12pm to 6pm.
It was opened by the Mayor of Sandwell Councillor Ahmadul Haque MBE.
